(OTA) OFFICERS TRAINING ACADEMY COURSE
DESCRIPTION
ALL CLASSES ARE CERTIFICATION
CLASSES--YOU WILL RECEIVE A CERTIFICATION UPON SATISFACTORY COMPLETION OF COURSE
DEFENSIVE TACTICS (1 DAY CLASS
COVERS EMPTY HANDS TECHNIQUES) (2 DAY CLASS ADDS TECHNIQUES AGAINST WEAPONS) Defensive Tactics provides a complete solution designed
for a wide variety of law enforcement personnel. Tactics will cover everything from ground to stand up position. Edge weapon
defense and firearms disarms and retention will also be covered. Simple yet effective solution will be implemented so the
officer can make a quick decision when his or her life is at stake. Second guessing your abilities can get you hurt or killed!
OC/CHEMICAL AEROSOL PROJECTOR (1
day) Designed for individuals in law enforcement, security, executive protection, & military
assignments. Can also be adapted to civilian personnel for self protection. Emphasis of instruction geared to how, why and
when to use OC in different situations and circumstances. Also legal aspects of OC that is pertinent in the court of law
PRACTICAL & TACTICAL HANDCUFFING (PATH) (1 day)
A no nonsense simple and superior handcuffing training course geared to the professional. The PATH system
will show you the best way to handcuff a suspect in the most simple and efficient method. The course will cover topics such
as the safest approach & positioning for handcuffing, handcuffing suspects that become resistant and combative, double
locking & removing handcuffs in a safe manner, and much more.
HAND HELD METAL DETECTORS & OPEN HAND FRISK (1day)
 In this course you will learn the best way to properly search an individual with a metal detector and
open hand (should your agency allow it). There are weapons that are not detected by metal detectors and we should keep this
in mind when working in high risk areas. We will explore and identify many of these undetectable weapons. Also the many concealable
places weapons can be carried on a person will be discussed and reviewed.
EDGE WEAPONS DEFENSE SYSTEMS (1day)
This certification program is developed for agencies desiring to train and certify law enforcement & security personell in
the use of techniques and tactics for edged weapon attacks, and to carry a knife as an alternate weapon for a force options
where the use of deadly force is imminent. This popular system is designed for law enforcement, corrections, and military
teaching the officer effective responses to an edged weapon attack in close quarter environments or when their empty hand
control tactics, firearms, or other use of force alternatives are the only forms of self-defense.
MONADNOCK EXPANDABLE POLICE BATON (MEB) (4 hours Basic) (8hr day Advanced Course)
Both Basic & Advanced Courses involve the teaching of use of force chart, stance, patterns of movement,
baton grips, methods of carry, drawing of the baton, blocks, counter strikes etc. The Advanced instruction includes &
teaches additional arm locks and takedowns.
HOSTAGE
ESCAPE Hostage Escape Training for
Law enforcement, Protection Details and civilians
MINI BATON (1 day) This certification course fills a need for those police and security officers who carry
or would like to carry a mini type baton in the course of there work. Training will be geared towards control and self defense.
Any short tool can be used as a mini baton (ex. Piece of Wood, Plastic or Metal). Small flashlights can also be used
in the same manner.
S.T.A.R.R. SAFE PHYSICAL CONTROL OF EDP'S (1 day)
This course will emphasize team control of emotionally disturbed citizens or patients that may not have committed
a crime but may be out of control and who may be a danger to themselves or others. This course will supplement Crises Intervention
Teams (CIT) lecture material by teaching them hands-on control techniques when needed. The goals of this course will be to
teach the team members the skills necessary to safely approach EDP’s, work as a team and take positive control of the
situation.
FLASHLIGHT DEFENSIVE TACTICS (1
day)
Innovative methods of using the flashlight
as hands on defensive tool. Lowlight tactics are reviewed and implemented within this curriculum. This curriculum centers
around the defensive tactics of the flashlight. All sizes of flashlights are reviewed. Also Explores how to use the flashlight
as a defensive tool without putting hands on your suspect.
IMPROVISED WEAPONS (1
day) (Available for Law Enforcement & Civilians)
This program explores the various objects around us that can be used as defensive caught in a dangerous
situation where our life or safety are at stake.Everything from a desk to the belt you wear aroud your waist can be used as
a weapon. It all depends where you are at the time and what is around you for protection. You will learn how some of these
weapons can be used as mere distraction to get you safely out of what we call the "danger zone". This course
is adaptable to all individuals.
TASER TRAINING (1Day)
This class will cover the techniques for proper deployment of and certification of end users (law enforcement &
security personnel) in the use of the TASER® device(s). Students
will learn how the TASER devise overrides & controls the sensory and motor functions of the nervous systems of a combative
subject, among other important factors in reguards to the TASER device.
MANAGEMENT OF AGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR (MOAB) (1-Day) also Tactical Communication & De-escalation techniques
This course will train individuals in the principles, skills and techniques needed to recognize, de-escalate,
and manage violent and aggressive behavior. Students will learn the signs given by individuals when their is a potential for
an aggressive encounter. Stands and Posture will be reviewed when dealing with potentially violent or aggressive individuals
FIREARMS DISARM & RETENTION (1
DAY)
This course focuses on simple, proven techniques that can be easily learned and retained by students who are
not martial artists,and successfully executed under extreme stress. Following a brief lecture/discussion of the legal and
tactical issues involved, the rest of the class will hands on learning and demonstration of techniques. We will examine your
strength and weaknesses executing all techniques.
NYS SECURITY GUARD LICENSE CERTIFICATION & RECERT (1 day)
Applicants seeking to become licensed/registered to work as a security guard in New York State must submit
an application to the New York State Department of State, Division of Licensing Services. General requirements for licensure/registration
of a prospective security guard in New York State are that all applicants must complete an 8-hour pre-assignment training
course and must not have been convicted of a serious criminal offense. This course will satisfy
all requirements for security license
